Job summary

Michigan Heart Clinic is seeking a Part-time Triage RN to provide clinical support for cardiac patients and staff. You will triage test results to physicians and patients, educate patients, and document information in the electronic health record.

Responsibilities include reviewing lab results, recognizing abnormal rhythms, and intervening per protocol while maintaining confidentiality and safety standards within SJMH guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's degree - Preferred.
• At least 3 years of cardiac nursing experience is required.
• Certification in BCLS and state licensure required.
• ACLS is required in some locations.

Triage RN

Provides support and clinical expertise to cardiac patients and staff. Triages test results to physicians and patients.

• 1. Performs comprehensive triage and patient education.
• 2. Acts as a liaison between patients, primary care physicians, and Michigan Heart physicians.
• 3. Documents medical information in patient’s electronic health record.
• 4. Reviews lab and test results and works collaboratively with a team assistant.
• 5. Recognizes abnormal cardiac rhythms, vital signs and symptoms. Intervenes appropriately, following protocols. Reports abnormal findings to cardiologist and other clinical team members.
• 6. Responsible for assessing walk in patients to the office and determining if patient needs an office visit or can be followed up with on telephone.
• 7. Demonstrates dependability and flexibility related to work schedule.
• 8. Responsible for ECG's and other nurse visits as ordered by Michigan Heart Physicians/Providers.
• 9. Assists patients with obtaining authorization for medication.
• 10. Refills medications per protocol.
• 11. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
• 12. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
• 13. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
• 14. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System
• 16. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelors degree - Preferred

Experience

• At least 3 years of cardiac nursing experience - Required
• Demonstrates competence related to cardiac arrhythmia recognition - Required

Certification / Licensure

• Michigan license - Required
• BCLS certification - Required
• ACLS certification – Required in regional office locations if responsible for pharmacological stress testing.
