Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our CBRE Global Workplace Solutions team. The role focuses on maintaining and improving automated material handling equipment through PLCs, SCADA, and robotics, ensuring reliability and operational performance.

You will troubleshoot software, support on-site and remote issues, collaborate with maintenance and operations, and help implement process improvements across conveyors, sortation systems, and control networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programs.
• 2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
• 2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and company directives related to system operations and work safety.
• Troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems, including PLC platforms and RSLogix 5000.
• Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting support, on-site and remote, including after hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities and client specifications.
• Oversee scope of development, work requests, scheduling, and inspection with outside contractors.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.) and MHE performance metrics.
• Communicate with stakeholders on issues, timelines and production impacts.
• Perform controls assessments to maintain/improve equipment reliability.
• Facilitate timely communication with site leadership and maintenance teams.
