Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a leading MGU (Motor Generator Unit E-Motor) Lead to drive the design, integration, and optimization of the e-motor system for the hybrid powertrain. You will oversee prototype validation, testing programs, and data-driven improvements to deliver race-ready solutions under FIA F1 rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; 8+ years in high-speed motors.
• Master's/PhD with 5+ years in motorsport ERS or hybrid powertrains preferred.
• Expertise in CAD (NX preferred), CAE/FEA, and PLM (Teamcenter) for e-motor simulations.
• Proven experience with rotor-stator integration, high-speed dynamics, and FIA F1 regs.
• Leadership of cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced automotive environments.

Responsibilities

• Establish requirements and targets for MGU e-motor components.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, and FIA regulation compliance.
• Drive R&D into advanced materials and manufacturing for scalable e-motor production.
