Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer for the ERS team. You will develop and optimize embedded software for MGU, CU-K, and ES, focusing on real-time control, sensor interfacing, and diagnostics in a Formula 1 hybrid powertrain.

You will collaborate with controls, power electronics, and hardware teams; use MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design; and ensure high standards of safety and performance in a motorsport environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field, or a Bachelors with 5+ years embedded experience.
• Strong embedded C/C++ with real-time OS expertise and CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART experience.
• MATLAB/Simulink used for embedded code generation and simulation; familiarity with model-based design.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for ERS control units in C/C++.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink for real-time model-based design and code generation.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, RT communication, and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with controls, power electronics, and hardware teams for system cohesion.
• Perform MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside validation; support software verification.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards (ISO 26262) and F1 tech regulations.
