Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks an MGU Lead to drive the design, integration, and optimization of the MGU e-motor within a FIA-regulated hybrid powertrain. You will lead cross-functional teams across electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal management, power electronics, and controls to deliver race-ready, high-performance propulsion systems for championship competition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 8+ years in high-speed motors or hybrid powertrains.
• Expertise in CAD (NX preferred), CAE/FEA, and PLM (Teamcenter) for e-motor simulations.
• Experience with rotor-stator integration, high-speed dynamics, bearing selection, and FIA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establish technical requirements, performance targets, and development goals for MGU e-motor components.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate MGU within the hybrid powertrain for max power density and efficiency.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA, documentation, and FIA compliance.
• Foster innovation through advanced materials and manufacturing advances.
