Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks an MGU Mechanical Design Engineer to drive mechanical design of MGU components for Formula 1 hybrid powertrains. You will create 3D models, detailed drawings, and perform simulations to ensure reliability under racing conditions.

You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize mechanical-electrical packaging and support prototype testing and validation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with substantial design experience.
• Experience in high-speed electric motors or motorsport applications is required.
• Strong CAD/CAE proficiency and familiarity with rotor-stator dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of MGU components (rotors, stators, housings).
• Collaborate with electromagnetic team to optimize integration.
• Apply DoE and ML to optimise design variables.
• Ensure structural integrity with FE analyses under high-speed operation.
• Support prototype testing and data interpretation.
