Job description

Responsible for providing quality and efficient financial service to patients through the daily management of assigned tasks. Oversees financial status of patients scheduled to be seen at Brown Health Medical Group Facility. Maintains insurance information for maximum billing reimbursement. Assists patients with billing questions; one on one, in a private area, maintaining patient confidentiality. Performs in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures. Follows the facility's standards for ethical business conduct. Conducts self as a positive role model and team member. Participates in facility committees, meetings, in‑services, and activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review schedule of upcoming patients 3 days prior to scheduled visit; flag patients that may need to be directed to the business representative area.
  • Contact patients on past‑due balances when scheduled to be seen at a specific site.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding financial issues with insurance and verify eligibility.
  • Be available for patients that experience billing problems, provide appropriate coaching, counseling, direction and resolution, and assist with any questions patients may have; call insurance representative at billing office regarding any necessary issues.
  • Call patients for collection purposes as a segment of the aged trial balance report.
  • Maintain insurance information in the system, ensuring prompt reimbursement for claims.
  • Work closely with the billing office for transfers, re‑bills of services and relay findings; have access to internet for insurance verification and to the billing segments of Versyss.
  • Keep supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action or suggest alternative courses of action.
  • Project a favorable image of Brown Health Medical Group to promote its aims and objectives and enhance public recognition and acceptance.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the position's overall objectives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested with prior approval from the Director of Patient Business Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION

Associates degree or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
  • 3‑5 years of previous third‑party liability billing experience.
  • Experience in a customer‑focused organization.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of third‑party liability billing and collections.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; self‑motivated/direct, organizational skills, ability to exercise independent judgment based upon established policies, protocol or practices.
  • Ability to provide and support a vision and direction to Brown Health Medical Group patients.

PAY RANGE

$19.03–$31.39
