Job summary

Layup Parts in Huntington Beach, CA, is expanding its metrology team. The Metrology Technician role blends advanced dimensional inspection with 3D scanning and GD&T, turning complex drawings into reliable inspection data within our AS9100 quality framework.

You’ll work hands-on with the SCANTECH NimbleTrack, PolyWorks, and traditional gauges, creating clear reports for internal teams and external customers while collaborating with Engineering, Production, and Software to improve inspection

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data integrity skills.
• Ability to learn and work with metrology software and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of composite, machined, and assembled parts using 3D scanning systems and traditional measuring equipment.
• Learn and operate SCANTECH NimbleTrack 3D scanning system for accurate data collection.
• Build PolyWorks inspection projects from CAD models, alignments, features, and reports.
• Translate CTQ requirements into effective inspection methods within PolyWorks.
• Apply GD&T and datum-based alignments in inspections.
• Develop repeatable inspection methods for reliable data extraction from 3D scans.
• Create clear inspection reports for internal teams and customers.
• Review drawings and customer requirements to determine inspection methods.
• Support AS9100 documentation and quality system activities.
