Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division seeks a metrology specialist to perform measurement surveys using Photogrammetry, Total Stations, Laser Trackers, and CMMs.

You will analyze data with 3D modeling tools and design drawings to support engineering and product reliability. The role requires advanced metrology techniques, data analysis, and potential Visual Basic usage to improve 3D measurement software.

Qualifications

Program graduation certificate may be substituted for an Apprentice Certification, Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in relevant field.
6 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Responsibilities

Performs measurement surveys using Photogrammetry, Total Stations, Laser Trackers, CMMs or other electronic 3D instruments.
Uses 3D model based software and design drawings to plan and execute the measurement survey including the analysis of the collected data to the end user.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design.
Recommends design or test methods utilizing metrology methodologies for the achievement of product reliability.
Compiles and analyzes measured data reports, including analysis of relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
May utilize Visual Basic to enhance the functionality of 3D measurement software.
