Job summary

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking a full-time Utility Billing Field Technician to lead and improve daily operations in the Utility Billing Division of the Finance Department. The role focuses on meter reads, field validations, and on-site customer support to ensure accurate billing and smooth service connections.

Ideal candidates have some meter reading experience, a High School diploma or GED, and a Texas Class C driver's license; a TCEQ CSI license is required or obtainable within one year.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Some meter reading experience preferred.
• Valid TX Class C Driver's License required.
• CSI License from TCEQ or to be obtained within one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs weekly water meter reads via drive-by for AMR/AMI meters for billing.
• Field validation to ensure information is accurate for billing.
• Completes daily work orders including start/stop service and reconnects.
• Maintains water meters and replaces meter apparatus as needed.
• Generates meter usage reports and checks for abnormal usage.
• Field validation for zero consumption accounts prior to billing.
• Assists customers in the field with meter reading education and troubleshooting.
