Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Meter Reader to read customer meters, identify irregularities, and support storm restoration efforts. You may need to use a personal 4WD/AWD vehicle and communicate effectively with customers.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and the ability to work overtime. Prior meter reading experience is preferred and mileage reimbursement is available for vehicle use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Must live within 40 minutes of the reporting service center.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Previous meter reading experience preferred.
• Must possess and use an all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle (eligible for mileage reimbursement).
• Ability to safely drive and walk in all types of weather over all terrains.
• Ability to deal effectively with customers and communicate clearly.
• Must be able to work overtime when needed.

The position hourly rate is $22.36.

• Reading meters installed on customer premises, including visually checking for and reporting service diversion and meter irregularities.
• Performing collection activities when assigned.
• Performing single phase reconnects, disconnects and meter exchanges when assigned.
• Performing duties in alignment with storm restoration efforts.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
• Use of personal 4WD or AWD vehicle required.
