Job summary

SPL in Reading, PA is seeking a Lab Analyst II to join its environmental testing lab. You will support metals analysis, sample prep, instrument operation, QC, data review, and documentation to ensure accurate results.

The role emphasizes GLP, safety, and teamwork, with regular hours, on-site work, and opportunities to contribute to audits, SOP updates, and continuous improvement within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• 2+ years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience operating instrumentation such as ICP, ICP-MS, or ICP-OES, and performing turbidity, hardness, or mercury testing.
• Strong understanding of analytical methods, instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and laboratory quality control procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Responsibilities

• Prepare environmental samples for metals analysis using digestion and other prep techniques.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-MS and ICP-OES instrumentation.
• Perform metals, mercury, turbidity, and hardness testing per approved methods and QA/QC.
• Review and interpret data, perform calculations, and prepare reports.
• Document sample prep, instrument performance, and results in LIMS.
• Support turnaround times, workload management, and cross-training with lab team.
• Contribute to audits, corrective actions, SOP updates, and continuous improvement.
• Follow GLP, safety protocols, and EH&S regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized lab and inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
