Senior Metallurgist – Aluminum / Manufacturing

Youngstown, Ohio - Relocation Assistance Provided

Are you a Metallurgist from an aluminum background, looking to become the go-to technical expert at a rapidly growing manufacturing facility, while receiving ongoing training and having a clear route into Management, General Management and even VP-level positions?

On offer is an excellent opportunity to become the lead Metallurgist and subject matter expert on site, working across a wide variety of technically challenging projects for customers within the aerospace, automotive, defense and industrial markets.

This company is part of a highly successful manufacturing group and specializes in aluminum casting and bespoke manufacturing. The facility has experienced significant growth in recent years, increasing from approximately 50 to over 100 employees, with continued investment and expansion planned.

In this position, you will report to the Quality Manager and become the site's technical authority for metallurgy. You will oversee melting, refining, alloying and casting processes while leading failure analysis, process optimization, quality initiatives and metallurgical investigations.

This role would suit an experienced Metallurgist from an aluminum foundry or casting environment who wants to become the go-to technical expert within a growing facility and have genuine long-term progression opportunities.

The Role:

• Become the site's technical expert for aluminum metallurgy, casting processes and heat treatment
• Optimize aluminum melting, refining, alloying and casting processes
• Lead root cause investigations into casting defects including porosity, inclusions and hot tears
• Oversee NDT/destructive testing, quality and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work directly with aerospace, automotive and industrial customers, with approximately 10-20% travel

The Person:

• Metallurgist / Metallurgical Engineer from an aluminum casting or foundry background
• Strong knowledge of aluminum alloys
• Experience with quality, failure analysis, root cause analysis and process improvement
• NDT experience or qualifications would be advantageous
