We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist specializing in High Performance Alloys to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in providing advanced metallurgical expertise across various stages of material processing, ensuring the development and enhancement of aerospace-grade metals and alloys. The position is based in New Castle, PA, with the necessity for regular travel to multiple facilities across the United States.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of metallurgical processes, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Analyze customer inquiries and specifications to design new products.
  • Deliver technical support and solutions for metallurgical challenges throughout the organization’s operations.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of alloy properties to optimize quality and performance, focusing on mechanical, thermal, and corrosion resistance.
  • Investigate non-conformance issues and mechanical test failures to determine root causes.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and documentation related to material properties and development processes.
  • Stay informed of technological advancements and identify emerging technologies to enhance the product portfolio.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science. Advanced degrees (MS or Ph.D.) are preferred.
  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in high-performance alloys within a manufacturing environment. Expertise in nickel-based superalloy development is highly desirable.
  • Proven technical leadership and expertise in aerospace-grade materials and high-performance alloy manufacturing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of metallurgical principles and standards, particularly in nickel-based superalloys and high-temperature materials.
  • Strong grasp of physical and mechanical metallurgy, including phase transformations, microstructural evolution, and deformation behavior.
  • Familiarity with deformation processing methods and industry standards (ASTM, NADCAP, AS9100).
  • Proficiency in data analysis, applied statistics, and process control.
  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel extensively to meet business requirements.
