Responsibilities
  • Perform testing of setup and in-process parts using metallurgical laboratory equipment, precision measuring tools, and gages.
  • Ensure all inspection and test equipment are calibrated prior to use.
  • Support the quality needs of the business and adhere to Allfast Fastening System’s AS9100 Quality Management System and NADCAP Accreditations.
  • Read, interpret, and execute applicable procedures, specifications, work instructions, and other documents.
  • Maintain test equipment and materials in good working condition, ensuring calibration is current.
  • Enforce the use of safety and/or personal protective equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, document equipment checks, and report nonconforming conditions to department leadership.
  • Conduct dimensional examinations on setup and in-process parts, documenting results on appropriate records.
  • Prepare metallographic samples using lathe, cutters, grinders, and other laboratory procedures (sectioning, mounting, grinding/polishing, etching).
  • Prepare and maintain etchants used in metallographic evaluations.
  • Evaluate and document setup and in-process metallographic mounts.
  • Support internal and external audits as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Participate in Internal Round Robin and perform proficiency tests.
  • Track consumable supplies inventory critical to the quality function and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of internal quality and laboratory procedural requirements as they apply to inspection, testing, manufacturing operations, NADCAP, and AS9100.
  • Store and maintain quality records and retained laboratory samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by department leadership.
  • Work weekends and extended hours at month and quarter ends, as needed.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Abilities

Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Perform complex duties requiring independent judgment and action.

Blueprint Reading

Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Other Qualifications
  • Skilled in setting up and using metallurgical equipment such as cut‑off saw, bench lathe, automatic grinders, polishers, metallographic microscopes, micro‑hardness tester, and plating thickness machine.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Read and understand a manufacturing work order sequence of operations.
Computer Skills

Computer literate and familiar with spreadsheet software and word processing software.

Education And/Or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in quality within a manufacturing organization.
  • Zero to three (0‑3) years of mechanical, metallurgical, or metallographic laboratory experience (preferably in an aerospace fastener manufacturing environment).
Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, use hands, talk or hear, sit and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally walk, kneel, or crouch. Regularly lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

Second shift differential. Expected pay range: $19.00 – $29.86 per hour. Compensation can vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Additional incentives such as equity, commissions, or other variable performance bonuses may be available for certain roles.
