Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Fontana, CA is seeking a Senior Metallurgical Engineer to own hardware development and customer-facing metallurgical support. You will troubleshoot forging processes and lead NPI efforts, ensuring production meets critical metallurgical and quality standards.

This role requires a bachelor's in metallurgy or materials science with 3+ years of forging experience, US work authorization, and ITAR compliance. Proficiency with ERP and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in metallurgical, engineering or forging.
• U.S. work authorization; ITAR requires U.S. person status.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership of hardware for applicable customers.
• Primary technical contact for applicable customers.
• Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot processes for seamless rolled rings and open-die forgings.
• Metallurgical failure analysis and disposition for applicable customers.
• Ownership of new part introduction (NPI) including final review of qualification packages.
• Lead Metallurgy Department projects including data collection and presentation.
• Initiate cost reduction projects to meet targets.
• Release hardware for production meeting metallurgical and quality requirements.
• Review new and revised specifications as needed.
