Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Whitehall, Michigan, is seeking an experienced NPI Senior Process Engineer. The role focuses on leading NPI processes for aerospace component manufacturing and driving continuous improvement in metallurgical quality and performance.

You will mentor engineers, oversee new part introduction, and collaborate with customers to ensure manufacturability and scalability of production processes, while upholding safety and ergonomic standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a process engineer in investment casting
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methods
• Ability to work legally in the United States (ITAR/compliance)
• Ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD models
• Excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of NPI processes for aerospace components
• Conduct NPI Concurrent Engineering meetings with customers for manufacturability
• Provide leadership and SPA on critical process concerns in NPI assignments
• Participate in NPI and yield improvement meetings
• Develop and improve processes for critical aerospace components
• Act as technical leader and mentor for engineers
• Conceive and implement problem-solving, cost-reduction, and process improvements
• Determine manufacturing requirements for part qualification and re-qualification
• Monitor yield, labor, and materials to drive process improvements
• Provide technical support and data-driven analysis to meet customer needs
• Define control plans and FMEA per customer requirements
• Assist in cost modeling for material, scrap, and labor
