Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks a highly experienced engineer to lead forging process development, metallurgy, and product characterization in our powder metallurgy manufacturing operation. You will drive process optimization, material performance improvements, and failure analysis across multiple teams.

The role requires deep expertise in forging, heat treatment, and materials characterization, with a track record of leading technical projects from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 10+ years in forging/metallurgical roles.
• Proven expertise in forging process development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of powder metallurgy, heat treatment, and microstructure-property relationships.
• Experience with metallurgical and mechanical testing and failure analysis.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical projects from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site's technical authority for forging process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and refine forging and heat treatment processes to achieve required mechanical properties.
• Lead process characterization activities, including DOE, process window development, and validation.
• Establish technical strategies to improve process capability, material performance, and yield.
• Support capital projects and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
• Lead root cause investigations of metallurgical defects and failures.
• Direct mechanical and metallurgical testing programs and develop qualification plans.
• Mentor engineers in forging technology, metallurgy, and problem-solving.
