Job summary

IFAB, based in Gastonia, NC, seeks a Design Engineer to design high‑performance metal components and sheet metal products. You will develop CAD models, drawings, tolerances, and material specs, collaborating with shop floor teams to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s in mechanical/industrial engineering and 3–5 years in metal fabrication, with SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency and strong GD&T knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial engineering (required).
• 3–5 years of hands-on design engineering in metal fabrication/manufacturing.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD (or equivalent 3D CAD).
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal parts, stamping, bending, welding, tooling and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and prototype metal components and sheet metal products.
• Create detailed drawings with specs, tolerances, and material requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, customers, suppliers, and internal teams to gather requirements and support fabrication.
