Job summary

IFAB in Gastonia, NC is seeking a Design Engineer to design and develop high-performance metal components, structural assemblies, and sheet metal products. You will work with our shop floor teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and compliant with quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on design experience in metal fabrication, and proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD with strong GD&T knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
3 to 5 years hands-on design engineering in metal fabrication/manufacturing.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD).
Deep knowledge of sheet metal, stamping, machining, bending, cutting, welding and tooling design.
Strong GD&T interpretation and blueprint reading.
Experience across concept to production in product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Design, 3D model, and prototype metal products using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Create detailed drawings with specifications, tolerances, and materials.
Develop models and simulations to assess performance and manufacturability.
Collaborate with shop floor, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Provide engineering support during fabrication and troubleshooting.
