Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced MES Controls Engineer to support MES-driven manufacturing operations in Livonia, MI. The role focuses on MES, PLC integration, real-time production execution, and automation system reliability to optimize manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and production teams, applying PLC programming and MES template routines to drive accurate production reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with PLC programming and diagnostics.
• Experience with MES, ERP, and PLC systems integration.
• Ability to analyze complex production and system issues.
• Strong communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches and production ramp-ups.
• Configure, establish, and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems.
• Integrate MES template routines and UDTs into PLC programs.
• Create and maintain PLC tags and logic for MES transactions and reporting.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and MES teams to ensure successful integration.
• Document MES-related PLC modifications, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and network issues impacting MES functionality.
• Support real-time production reporting and manufacturing data integrity.
• Assist in resolving throughput, efficiency, quality, and system performance issues.
• Partner with production and engineering teams to support workflows.
• Support MES-based quality validation and enforcement processes.
• Maintain and manage part numbers, product structures, and MES data.
• Assist with audits, root cause analysis, and data requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve MES functionality and automation performance.
• Support MES enhancements, updates, and new production rollouts.
