Job summary

North Point Technology seeks an experienced MES Controls Engineer to support high-volume discrete manufacturing. You will focus on MES, PLC integration, real-time production execution, and automation reliability, collaborating with engineering, operations, and production teams.

The role involves configuring MES-PLC communications, integrating MES templates into PLC programs, and maintaining PLC logic and tags to support MES transactions and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
• Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience supporting manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of plant-floor communication protocols and industrial networks.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex production and system integration issues.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineering, operations, and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches, ramp-ups, and operations.
• Configure and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems.
• Integrate MES template routines and UDTs into PLC programs.
• Create and maintain PLC tags and logic for MES transactions and reporting.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and MES teams to ensure successful integration.
• Document MES-related PLC modifications, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and network issues impacting MES functionality.
• Support accuracy of real-time production reporting and data.
• Assist in resolving production issues affecting throughput and quality.
• Partner with supervisors, operators, and engineers to support workflows.
• Support MES-based quality validation and enforcement processes.
• Maintain part numbers, product structures, and production data in MES.
• Assist with audits, root cause analysis, and data requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve MES functionality and automation.
• Support MES enhancements, updates, and new rollouts.
