Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced MES Controls Engineer to support high-volume discrete manufacturing. You will focus on MES, PLC integration, real-time production execution, and automation reliability.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and production teams to optimize MES-driven processes, configure MES-PLC interfaces, and support system upgrades while maintaining data integrity and production reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
• Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience supporting manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and plant-floor communication protocols.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex production and system integration issues.
• Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches and production ramp-ups.
• Configure and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems.
• Integrate MES template routines and UDTs into PLC programs.
• Create and maintain PLC tags and logic for MES transactions and reporting.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and MES teams to ensure proper integration.
• Document MES-related PLC modifications, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and industrial network issues impacting MES functionality.
• Assist with production reporting accuracy and data integrity.
• Resolve production issues affecting throughput, efficiency, quality, and system performance.
• Partner with supervisors and engineers to support manufacturing workflows.
• Support MES-based quality validation and enforcement processes.
• Manage part numbers, product structures, and production data in MES.
• Assist with audits, root cause analysis, and data requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve MES functionality and automation.
