Job summary

Carowinds seeks a Merchandise Manager to oversee daily merchandise operations, driving profitability, safety, and guest service excellence. The role leads the Area Manager team to achieve associate, guest, and financial goals in alignment with Carowinds' mission and standards.

The ideal candidate will have 6–8 years in merchandise/retail with 3–5 years of leadership, strong strategic thinking, and excellent presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/marketing/merchandising preferred.
• 6-8 years of prior work experience in merchandise/retail.
• 3-5 years of prior experience leading and supervising a large team.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and shift between strategic and tactical work.
• Strong presentation skills.
• At least 5% travel.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Leads, trains, and develops direct reports through coaching and feedback while driving productivity and morale.
• Ensures Retail-related competencies are in place and managed across operations (execution, brand delivery, safety, budgeting, inventory, loss prevention, guest experience).
• Partners with local and corporate teams to develop strategies for stock levels and product flow.
• Establishes and implements visual merchandising plans for all locations with appealing store displays.
• Monitors sales, KPI metrics, budgets, and controllable expenses to guide plans and forecasts.
• Maintains a safety culture with a formal safety plan and compliance with laws and policies.
• Responds to guest inquiries and concerns and participates in manager-on-duty rotation.
• Manages responsibilities across Merchandise, Games, Revenue Partners, Photo, Service/Rentals, Warehousing and Merchandising as needed.
