Job summary

Trueline is seeking a MEP Preconstruction Manager to lead design-phase activities on multiple commercial projects across markets, with a strong emphasis on estimating, scheduling, and collaboration with owners and designers.

You will guide design teams, manage costs, and ensure constructability while maintaining client relationships and pursuing future opportunities. Relocation assistance may be available in select cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of construction experience.
• 5+ years in estimating or on-site project management, including 1-2 years as Preconstruction Manager.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
• Working knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, scheduling, cost control, drawings, specs, and standards.
• Proven leadership experience with ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
• Humble, team-first approach and integrity to do the right thing.
• Working knowledge of EEO, inclusive leadership practices, and Affirmative Action requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 70% to project sites and work in the office Tue–Thu when not traveling.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Manage design phase for concurrent commercial projects including estimating, partner selection, scheduling, design development, QC, and MEP commissioning planning.
• Collaborate with owners to define project expectations and critical success factors during design.
• Facilitate solicitation, selection, and contracting of designers on design-build projects.
• Develop and lead preparation and presentation of project proposals.
• Build detailed design-phase and baseline construction schedules.
• Lead construction planning including contract manual, subcontractor selection, and Lean Design Delivery with BIM/VDC.
• Guide design teams to integrate constructability and logistics into design.
• Lead estimating team on drawings, specifications, scheduling, and cost documentation.
• Manage design-phase costs through estimates, VE, life-cycle analysis, and budgeting.
• Secure regulatory approvals, manage insurance/bonding terms, and track LEED metrics.
• Supervise and develop Design Phase Engineers including performance evaluations and hiring decisions.
• Set tone for exceptional customer relationships and identify future opportunities.
