Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Project Manager, Practice Builder - Mechanical MEP to lead and grow our MEP practice in the Chicagoland area, with options in Chicago Downtown, Deerfield, or Warrenville. As a Practice Builder, you will expand MEP offerings, define growth strategy, win work from new and existing clients, mentor staff, and lead profitable, high‑quality projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience managing MEP projects.
• Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the applicable state.
• Extensive client contacts and relationships.
• Business development skills and experience writing proposals and budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably.
• Strong client engagement and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience mentoring staff and directing resources.

Responsibilities

• Expand the Mechanical offerings of the MEP team.
• Define and execute the growth vision for the practice.
• Win work from new and existing clients through BD efforts.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and partnerships.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing MEP team across offices.
• Ensure quality, profitability, and timely delivery of projects.
• Oversee design documents, reports, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with architects and other disciplines.
