Job summary

Summer Consultants, Inc. is seeking a recent graduate or early-career Mechanical Designer to join our Raleigh, NC team. You will work on renovation projects in federal, institutional, and historic facilities, gaining hands-on field exposure and mentoring from experienced engineers.

We design mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems to make buildings safe and reliable. You’ll survey existing buildings, develop practical designs, and contribute to drawings and calculations

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant engineering field (HVAC focus preferred).
• Willingness to spend meaningful time in the field surveying conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.Required.
• MS Word and Excel proficiency expected.
• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 10 nights per year.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical and plumbing design for renovation and existing-building projects.
• Participate in field surveys to observe and document existing conditions.
• Assist with HVAC and plumbing calculations, ductwork and piping layouts.
• Help translate survey findings into practical design solutions.
• Develop drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers from other disciplines.
