A highly reputable and established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager to lead the successful execution of large-scale commercial mechanical projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background working directly for a mechanical contractor, with proven experience managing complex commercial HVAC, piping, plumbing, or other mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
Experience with large-scale data center projects is a significant plus and will be highly valued, particularly for candidates who have managed complex, highly coordinated mechanical scopes in mission-critical environments.
This position will work closely with clients, General Contractors, engineers, subcontractors, field leadership, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and turnover.
- Maintain overall responsibility for project budget, schedule, profitability, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and scopes to identify potential issues and opportunities.
- Lead project planning, scheduling, procurement, and execution activities.
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, change orders, and financial reporting.
- Review and negotiate change orders, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate closely with General Contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure project schedules and milestones are achieved.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule, cost, manpower, material, and coordination issues.
- Oversee mechanical subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers as applicable.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate, current, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and senior leadership.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies before issues impact cost or schedule.
- Support preconstruction efforts, estimating, budgeting, and project handoff as needed.
- Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to ensure mechanical systems are properly coordinated and constructible.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with company safety and quality standards.
- Manage commissioning, startup, punch list, closeout, and turnover activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners.
