Job summary

Davenport Management & Consulting seeks a Construction Manager to oversee all aspects of assigned MEP construction projects on a full-time contract basis (~24 months). You will drive resource planning, cost control, and schedule adherence, ensuring safety, ethics, and compliance at every stage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture — or equivalent work-related experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience as a MEP Site Superintendent is required.
• Broad knowledge of commercial/contractual complexity/deal structure/financial acumen.
• Understanding of construction management methods and processes.
• Advanced knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and BAS Controls methods, building products, and building codes.
• Strong leadership and crisis resolution skills.
• Ability to break large projects into small steps.
• Direct management experience with projects related to HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire protection Controls/BAS, Lighting, and Renewable Energy systems is required.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
• Strong Personal Computer in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, Teams and basic Windows environment.
• Ability to travel as required; projects may exist outside of the assigned geography.
• OSHA 30 Certification

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, costs, resources and risks to deliver on time and on budget.
• Act as the primary on-site leader for execution teams on assigned projects.
• Evaluate scope of work and impact of instructions, directives and scheduling changes.
• Pursue change orders; perform cost estimates, proposals and negotiations.
• Review and interpret contract terms and conditions.
• Analyze financial reporting and project schedules to address problems.
• Ensure project document controls comply with contract and company standards.
• Manage materials procurement and delivery for projects.
• Attend job progress meetings and align subcontractors with expectations.
• Escalate product-related issues as needed.
• Coordinate customer-training requirements.
• Manage profitable execution of projects.
• Understand project scope and customer expectations.
• Maintain ethical standards and profitability.
• Provide leadership by focusing on exceeding customer expectations.
• Develop and follow Project Execution Plans; schedule milestones and deliverables.
• Plan, schedule, and control project activities.
• Assist in cost estimating and reviews.
• Ensure projects are done accurately, on-time, and within scope.
• Determine resource levels and monitor workforce accordingly.
• Use resource planning to drive productivity.
• Document scope changes and obtain approvals for changes.
• Communicate status to Management on revenue, costs, and gross margin.
• Establish customer touch points for feedback.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and internal partners.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Drive the Company Safety Program for employees and subcontractors.
