Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking an MEP Commissioning Manager for data center construction in Texas. You will own end-to-end commissioning across electrical and mechanical systems, coordinating FAT/SAT, IST, and cross-discipline testing with the GC, subcontractors, and vendors.

You’ll guide MEP readiness, manage engineers, and author critical SOPs/EOPs while ensuring cross-system integrity and timely reporting to ownership. This role requires hands-on site leadership and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commissioning experience spanning electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary commissioning teams.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1, NFPA 70/70E/110 and related codes.
• Proven track record leading Level 4/5 IST where systems are tested together.
• Fluency in BMS/EPMS integration and system communication.
• PE, CxA (BCxP/CCP) or PMP credentials are a strong plus.
• Strong People-management experience and decision making under pressure.
• Ability to defend technical calls to ownership.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical one-lines, P&IDs and BMS sequences with design teams.
• Author and approve MOPs, SOPs and EOPs for cross-system dependencies.
• Manage commissioning engineers across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Chair coordination meetings with GC, MEP subcontractors, controls integrators, and equipment vendors.
• Maintain and drive the commissioning issues log and root-cause resolution.
• Report readiness and risk to ownership and operations stakeholders.

MEP Commissioning Manager — Data Center Construction

We're looking for an MEP Commissioning Manager who lives in that gap on purpose. Someone who can walk from the switchgear room to the chiller plant to the BMS head-end and speak all three languages fluently: a professional who catches the disconnect between them before it ever reaches a live load.

What You'll Own

• Lead multi-discipline Cx execution across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for hyperscale/colocation data center projects from design review through integrated systems testing and warranty-phase closeout.
• Own the technical integrity of the commissioning plan, ensuring electrical and mechanical test sequences are coordinated, not just scheduled adjacently.
• Direct factory witness testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) across the full MEP scope: switchgear, generators, UPS, ATS, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, cooling towers, CHW/CW distribution, and fire/life safety systems.
• Lead Level 4/5 integrated systems testing (IST), orchestrating simultaneous electrical failure scenarios and mechanical load response to validate the facility performs as a single, coordinated system.
• Review electrical one-lines, mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and BMS/EPMS sequences of operation side by side.
• Author and approve MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs that account for cross-system dependencies.
• Manage a team of commissioning engineers across electrical and mechanical disciplines, setting technical standard and holding the line on documentation rigor.
• Chair MEP-focused commissioning coordination meetings with the GC, MEP subcontractors, controls integrators, and equipment vendors while keeping every discipline honest about what "ready" actually means.
• Own cross-disciplinary items on the commissioning issues log, driving root-cause resolution when a fix in one system creates risk in another.
• Report integrated MEP readiness and risk directly to ownership and operations stakeholders.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of commissioning experience spanning both electrical and mechanical systems on mission-critical facilities; data center experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-disciplinary commissioning not just deep expertise in one trade, but the range to hold electrical and mechanical teams to the same standard.
• Strong command of ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1, NETA, NFPA 70/70E/110, and how mechanical and electrical standards intersect on a live commissioning schedule.
• Proven track record leading Level 4/5 integrated testing where electrical and mechanical systems were tested together, not in isolation.
• Fluency in BMS/EPMS integration, the layer where MEP systems actually talk to each other, and where most late-stage surprises live.
• PE, CxA (BCxP/CCP), or PMP credentials are a strong plus, not a hard requirement. We care more about what you've actually commissioned.
• People-management experience leading multi-discipline commissioning teams.
• The judgment to make a call when electrical and mechanical priorities conflict, and the communication skills to defend that call to ownership.
