Job description

Location: [Texas] | Type: Full-Time | Travel: [50%]

We're looking for a Lead Commissioning Engineer who doesn't just run test scripts, but someone who understands the systems well enough to know when something's about to go wrong before it does. If you've stood in an electrical room during a full-load transfer test with your hand near the e-stop and total confidence in the sequence you wrote, this is your role.

What You'll Own
  • Serve as technical lead on Cx execution for one or more data center projects as the go-to engineer when a system isn't behaving the way the sequence of operations says it should.
  • Develop and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for Level 3-5 functional and integrated testing across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Lead factory witness tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) on switchgear, generators, UPS, PDUs, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, and cooling towers.
  • Perform detailed functional performance testing (FPT) on BMS/EPMS control sequences.
  • Run integrated systems tests (IST), coordinating live trade work across electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, and controls to validate the facility as one system, not a collection of parts
  • Review and mark up electrical one-lines, mechanical schematics, and controls points lists.
  • Manage and drive closure of the commissioning issues log, working directly with contractors and vendors to fix root causes, not symptoms.
  • Mentor and technically direct field commissioning engineers and technicians, setting the standard for procedure discipline and documentation quality.
  • Support the Commissioning Project Manager with schedule input, technical risk assessments, and readiness reporting to ownership.
What You Bring
  • 4+ years of hands-on commissioning engineering experience on mission-critical facilities; hyperscale or colocation data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical command of electrical distribution and standby power systems (medium/low voltage switchgear, generators, UPS, ATS/STS) OR mechanical cooling systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, cooling towers, CHW/CW piping).
  • Working fluency in BMS/EPMS platforms and the ability to read and challenge a sequence of operations, not just execute it.
  • Solid grounding in ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1, NETA, NFPA 70/70E/110 and how they apply on a live construction site.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring technically rigorous MOPs and test scripts that a field technician can execute without guessing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline preferred; equivalent field experience will absolutely be considered.
  • CxA, BCxP, CCP, or NETA certification is a plus but we're hiring for engineering judgment first.
  • Comfortable owning a problem in the field, communicating it clearly, and staying until it's actually resolved.
Why This Role
  • Get hands-on with the infrastructure behind the cloud.
  • Work under commissioning leadership that values technical depth over checkbox culture
  • Build toward Commissioning Project Manager, this is a growth seat, not a ceiling
  • Competitive salary, per diem/travel package, and benefits built around real job-site life
