Job summary

Englewood Public School District is seeking applicants for the 2026-2027 Mentor Teacher Program. Mentors will receive training to serve as mentors for newly hired teaching staff and will act as instructional coaches within a district-wide setting.

Mentors commit to the roles and responsibilities of mentoring, including meeting with novice teachers, modeling professional behavior, and guiding ongoing professional growth through coaching and reflective practice.

Qualifications

• NJ Teacher Certification required.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching.
• Strong instructional background and ability to train staff.
• Experience with NJ Student Learning Standards.
• Desirable expertise in training and leadership development.
• Experience working with at-risk students.
• Excellent interpersonal communication with staff, students, and parents.
• Must have a minimum rating of Effective.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mentors for newly hired teaching staff.
• Attend meetings and professional development related to mentoring.
• Model professional reflection, communication and ethics.
• Dedicate time to meet with the novice teacher and provide guidance.
• Coach instructional practices using the clinical cycle.
• Foster a collaborative learning community among mentors and mentees.
• Support professional growth opportunities for mentees.
• Maintain confidentiality of mentoring relationships.
