Qualifications

• Completed/will complete district mentor training.
• At least two years of successful mentoring experience in the district.
• Earned a rating of at least proficient on most recent educator evaluation.
• Recommended by current principal.
• Candidate should possess leadership abilities and a desire to enhance the district.
• Exhibit knowledge about content-area, the Educator Evaluation System, and professional/community resources in the school and district.
• Works well with adults and maintains confidentiality.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting new mentors during the summer as new positions open.
• Overseeing the new teacher orientation in August for their building or level.
• Prepare/coordinate monthly meetings for new teachers.
• Attend all scheduled meetings with the District Coordinator for Mentoring.
• Communicate with building principals regarding the mentor program.
• Address concerns of mentors or mentees.
• Communicate with the District Coordinator for Mentoring regarding concerns or problems.
• Turn in attendance records and agendas of all meeting to the Coordinator at the end of the year
