Job summary

Wyalusing Area School District seeks a Mentor for Professional Staff Members Requiring the PDE Induction Program. The role guides new inductees per PDE induction guidelines and supports them through orientation, resources, and ongoing instructional coaching.

The mentor will assist with classroom management, standards-based planning, and differentiated instruction while collaborating with administrators and staff to promote educator effectiveness and professional development.

Qualifications

• Mentor training or previous experience required.
• Knowledge of district/school policies, procedures, and resources.
• Willing to accept additional responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide orientation, campus tours and resource overviews.
• Offer instructional support in classroom management and planning.
• Support diverse learners with differentiated strategies.
• Contribute to educator effectiveness and professional development.
• Provide personal support and staff introductions.
• Attend mentor meetings and demonstrate classroom proficiency.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

• Provide instructional, professional, and personal support to new professional inductees while following the educator induction plan guidelines set forth by PDE.

Essential Functions

• Orientation tasks consisting of:
• Provide campus and building tour
• Overview of district-wide technology resources, including but not limited to exploration of the school website, PAETEP, Frontline, student information systems, etc.
• Review of school safety practices and procedures
• Give instructional support in the following areas:
• Classroom management
• Standards-based instructional planning
• Standards aligned teaching strategies
• Differentiated support for struggling students
• Observations & conferencing with inductee
• Instruction for diverse learners
• Data informed decision making
• Contribute professional support in the following areas:
• Information about school policies and procedures
• Student informative and summative assessments and evaluation
• Educator Effectiveness
• Information about quality professional development opportunities
• Provide personal support such as:
• Introductions to staff members
• Personal encouragement within the context of a confidential relationship
• Liaison as a referral to other key people and resources
• Attend mentor meetings when called by the administration
• Demonstrate a high level of competency as a classroom teacher
• All other duties as assigned
