Job summary

Care New England is seeking a Mental Health Worker to support nurses in direct patient care and to advocate for patients' needs. The role emphasizes safety, therapeutic environment, and activity assistance for patients in a Butler Hospital setting.

Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor's in social sciences or equivalent behavioral health experience and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. A CNA differential may be available to eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the social sciences preferred or comparable behavioral health experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
• Experience with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients is preferred.
• Candidate must have excellent written skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• C.N.A. preferred: 2% pay differential available to applicants who maintain an active CNA license.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Butler Hospital service standards and acts as a patient advocate by modeling performance standards and addressing patient service needs.
• Assists registered nurses in direct patient care, especially activities of daily living.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic unit environment through observation and interaction, including group activities.
• Commits to ongoing self-development related to the mental health worker role.

Assists registered nurses in direct care of patients, specifically patients’ activities of daily living.

Insures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation monitoring, interacting and providing/assisting in groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

Consistently adheres to Butler Hospital service standards.
