Employees in this job classification begin at Step 5 of the pay scale. Starting salary for promotional candidates will follow contractual requirements.
Do you have a passion for mental healthcare and want to be part of a team that shares the same enthusiasm and compassion? As a Mental Health Worker, you will provide paraprofessional support involving direct care and rehabilitation of patients. Responsibilities include implementing programs, treatment, and education for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and providing direct patient care. High School diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in mental health, who are registered on the State of Maine’s CNA registry, and possess a valid Maine driver’s license.
Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving Maine, providing services for individuals with severe mental illness. As part of a statewide community of caregivers, DDPC collaborates with individuals, their supports, and communities to provide recovery-oriented, respectful, and effective psychiatric care in the safest and most therapeutic environment possible.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) promotes health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine residents, providing health and social services to about a third of the state’s population, including children, families, older adults, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The department operates two state psychiatric hospitals and oversees healthcare providers.
