Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Torrance, CA is seeking a Mental Health Therapist (AMFT, ACSW, APCC) to deliver individual, family, and collateral therapy, conduct assessments, and develop treatment plans for children, adolescents, and adults in residential or outpatient settings.

This role includes case management, external coordination, and billing; offers supervision hours for BBS licensure where applicable, plus paid CEU opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related mental health field.
• California driver’s license with a driving record that meets company eligibility policies.
• Two years’ experience in a mental health field with age group(s) served in residential or outpatient settings preferred.
• Active registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC) or licensure as LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
• May be requested to obtain an LPS Certification to put in effect a 5150 hold.
• May be requested to obtain additional certifications, including evidenced-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services including assessment, evaluation, individual, family, and collateral therapy.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and document outcomes.
• Serve as liaison with external agencies and coordinate case management services.
• Document and bill for mental health and case management services.
• May pursue additional certifications as needed.

The Mental Health Specialist provides mental health services (including assessment and evaluation as assigned) and other services to clients referred to in the Community Services Program. Services include but are not limited to individual, family, and collateral therapy, treatment planning, etc. He/she acts as liaison with external agencies and functions in teams with other clinical & support staff. S/he documents and bills for mental health and case management services and completes outcomes information. May be requested to obtain additional certifications as needed.Division/Program Overview:Population Served: Children, Adolescents, and Transition-Age Youth (TAY)Facility & Setting: Field-based / Community settings (schools, homes, and local community facilities)Clinical Services: Comprehensive mental health care, psychiatric evaluation, Evidence-Based Practices (EBP), individual/family therapy, and multidisciplinary care delivered by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and cliniciansLength of Stay: Outpatient/community-based timeline (varies according to individual treatment plan and progress)Skills & Transition: Interagency collaboration and transition support with school administrators, county social workers, probation officers, and case managers.
