Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join the Adult Inpatient Crisis Residential Unit in Merced, CA. Starting compensation is $70,000–$80,000 per year with comprehensive benefits.

The role involves psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and delivering individual and group therapy to adults ages 18-59, with evening and weekend shifts after 5 PM, five days per week. On-the-job supervision and opportunities for CEU credits are provided.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology.
• Minimum 1 year of direct service experience in a mental health setting (student internship/practicum time accepted).
• Licensure options: AMFT/ACSW/APCC or LMFT/LCSW/LPCC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and maintain client documentation (intake, progress, discharge notes).
• Assess readiness for admission and discharge; coordinate care with treatment teams/case managers.
• Provide individual and group therapy; facilitate therapeutic groups; connect clients with aftercare resources.

Job Title: Mental Health Clinician
Division/Program: (Adult Inpatient) Crisis Residential Unit
Starting Compensation: 70000 - 80000 USD Per Year
Working Location: Merced, CA
Working Hours/Shift: Available to work 4 hours per day beginning after 5:00 PM, five days per week, including evening and weekend shifts. Flexible scheduling available.

What You Bring to SBHG

• Education: Master’s degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution (required).
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of direct service experience in a mental health setting (student internship/practicum time accepted). Direct experience in an inpatient therapy setting (preferred).
• Licensure Options:
  • Mental Health Specialist II: Active registration as an AMFT, ACSW, or APCC (required).
  • Mental Health Specialist III: Active independent license as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC (required).

• Clinical Services: Rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services.
• Length of Stay: 30 day stay.
• Skills & Services: Pre-vocational or vocational counseling and medication evaluation and support services.
