Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Lancaster, CA seeks a Mental Health Clinician (Spanish Speaking Required) to provide mental health services and case management to adolescents and families within the Star View Teammates program.

You will deliver individual and family therapy, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in planning meetings, and pursue ongoing professional growth through paid CEUs; a strong emphasis on serving high-risk populations in residential or outpatient settings.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Human Services, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the mental health field with diverse client populations.
  • Experience with high-risk populations and dual diagnosis in residential or outpatient settings.
  • License or Certification: CA BBS AMFT/ACSW/APCC (MHS II) or LMFT/LCSW/LPCC (MHS III).
  • Spanish speaking required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services (assessment, evaluation, and therapy) for adolescents and families.
  • Deliver individual and family therapy, collateral support, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and assist with case management and program planning.
  • Attend client and family meetings and engage with external agencies as needed.
  • Pursue additional training and certifications as required.

Starting Compensation: 73,316.25 - 78,718.50 USD Per Year
Working Location: Lancaster, CA
Working Hours/Shift: Mon - Fri: 8 AM - 5 PM

What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):
  • Education: Master's degree in Mental Health, Human Services, or closely related field.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience in the mental health field, and direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, adults, and families; experience with high-risk populations. Experience with children, adolescents, and adults with dual diagnosis in residential or outpatient settings.
  • License or Certification: MHS II: Registered with CA BBS as an AMFT, ACSW or APCC. MHS III: Licensed in California as a LMFT, LCSW or LPCC. Valid California Driver's License.
  • Language Skills: Spanish Speaking Required
How you will make a difference (job overview):
  • This position has primary responsibility for mental health services and case management services to adolescents and their families.
  • The Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides mental health services (including assessment and evaluation) and other services to clients referred to the TEAMMATES programs.
  • Provides therapeutic services, including but not limited to individual and family therapy, collaterals, crisis intervention skill building, and treatment planning.
  • The Mental Health Specialist is an active contributor in multidisciplinary teams and will assist various team members as needed to provide services to families or assist with case management or developing plans for the family.
  • He/she acts as a liaison with external agencies and functions on teams with other clinical & non-clinical staff.
  • The Mental Health Specialist will attend various client and family meetings, such as Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings, psychoeducation groups, plan development meetings, as well as various external and community meetings.
  • May be requested to obtain additional training and certifications as needed.

    • High Fidelity Wraparound services & Early Psychosis Intervention: Comprehensive Behavioral & Social Support Services , Crisis response, team-based approach
  • Population Served: Children, Youth, and Families battling trauma, mental illness, neglect, or substance abuse
  • Facility & Setting: Multidisciplinary program sites serving SPA 1,2,3,4,6,7,8
  • Clinical Services: Trauma-informed care, mental health treatment, behavioral interventions, and parental skill enhancement
  • Length of Stay: Based on need, average stay is 18 months
  • Skills & Transition: Strengths-based empowerment, resilience building, and long-term recovery/re-integration support Family support, skill development, advocacy, and comprehensive community resources
