Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Mental Health Technician II for Morton Plant in Clearwater, FL. This is a full-time, hourly position supporting psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision. Primary duties include direct patient care, monitoring safety, and promoting therapeutic communication.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and preferred CNA or Patient Care Technician credentials. Work hours are 6:45 AM–7:15 PM with alternating weekends.

• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred in related field.

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: Morton Plant

• Location: Clearwater, FL

• Status: Full time, Hourly

• Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

• Weekend Work: Every Other

• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field - Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months - Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
