Job summary

BayCare's Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the Behavioral Health team. This pool, hourly position supports direct patient care and safety under RN supervision, with monitoring, therapeutic communication, and assistance with basic care.

Required: BLS, high school diploma or equivalent, valid FL driver's license. Preferred: Associate's in healthcare/psychology and CNA/PCT certification; 6 months psychology-based experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Certifications in BLS; CNA/PCT credentials advantageous.
• Experience in psychiatric care or mental health settings preferred (6 months).
• Strong communication and observation skills essential for patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision.
• Monitor and observe patients to ensure safety and well-being.
• Promote therapeutic communication and relationships with patients.
• Assist with activities of daily living under direction of an RN.

Mental Health Technician Prime Pool Position Details:

• Location: Clearwater, FL
• Status: Pool, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• On Call: No

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Assists with physical care under the direction of an RN.

Requirements:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• High School or Equivalent
• FL Driver's License
• Preferred - Associate's in Healthcare/Psychology
• Preferred - CNA/PCT

Preferred Experience:

• 6 months - Psychology based experience
