Job summary

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health in Temple, Texas seeks a Mental Health Technician - PRN to support the treatment team with patient care across adolescent to geriatric units.

You will follow interventions, monitor patient status, and communicate changes to the charge nurse, under RN supervision. This role requires high school diploma and healthcare training; CPR/Handle with Care training preferred; weekend and night hours possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.
• Minimum one year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
• Licensure: None.
• Handle with Care Training, Service Excellence Training, and CPR certification required; certifications must be obtained during new hire orientation.
• MHTs may be required to work weekends, overtime, nights and have flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.
• Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the charge nurse.
