Job summary

Harborview Medical Center's Mental Health and Addiction Services Department seeks a Mental Health Practitioner to provide initial screenings, diagnostic evaluations, and counseling to adults seeking services in Seattle.

You will deliver case management, develop care plans, work with a multidisciplinary team, assist with housing and funding when needed, and participate in triage and crisis diversion to support recovery.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work.
• Or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years’ of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial screenings and psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for new clients seeking services.
• Provide mental health case management and counseling/therapy services for an assigned caseload of clients.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team with patients and their social networks to support recovery.
• Assess patient needs and determine appropriate interventions.
• Assist clients obtain housing and funding as necessary to prevent crisis service use.
• Facilitate diversion from voluntary and involuntary psychiatric hospitalization when appropriate.
• Participate in case reviews and document patient contact in the medical record.
• Develop and implement patient care plans and engage in triage services.
