Job summary

Brewer Medical Center in Brewer, ME is seeking a Medical Assistant to support mental health services within our integrated care team. You will assist providers, prepare exam rooms, and help manage charts and labs to ensure smooth, high-quality visits.

The role requires a high school diploma and MA training or certification, plus up-to-date BLS. Preferred certifications (CMA/RMA/CCMA) or the ability to certify within 60 days are welcomed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Evidence of Medical Assistant training including essential job functions or MA Certification.
• Up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider BLS; if not current at hire, must obtain within 2 weeks.
• Certification is highly encouraged and supported.
• Preferred CMA/RMA/CCMA certifications or ability to certify within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care, treatments, and clinical decision-making to ensure high‑quality visits.
• Room patients and maintain exam spaces; administer medications and vaccines; draw blood; process labs under provider direction.
• Conduct chart reviews and support pre‑visit planning and medication refills.
• Support adherence to quality standards and help improve clinic workflows and patient experience.
