Job summary

Penobscot Community Health Care seeks a compassionate Medical Assistant to support mental health services at Brewer Medical Center. You will work closely with providers to deliver high-quality care and assist with patient care, including medication administration, vaccines, and lab processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Evidence of Medical Assistant training or MA Certification required.
• BLS training within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
• Certification is strongly encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities

• Direct Provider Support: assist providers with patient care and clinical decisions.
• Patient Preparation & Procedures: room patients, prepare exam spaces, administer meds and vaccines, draw blood, process labs.
• Clinical Desktop & Chart Management: review charts, manage refills, support pre-visit planning.
• Quality & Compliance: support adherence to quality standards across the clinic.
• Team Engagement: collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to improve patient experience.
