As a premier member of our team, you will be crucial in guiding clients through their mental health journeys in a supportive environment.

About the Organization

Small Steps Psychological Services is a community-focused health clinic located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. We are committed to providing accessible mental health care to underserved populations, offering a wide range of therapeutic services. Our team comprises skilled professionals who are passionate about their work, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where innovative practices enhance patient care and outcomes.

Work Environment

The position is primarily remote, offering flexibility and a work-life balance that suits your schedule. This allows you to work from the comfort of your home while being part of a dedicated team that values mental health support. Our clinic utilizes advanced electronic medical records (EMR) software, streamlining documentation and billing processes to reduce your administrative burden and allow you to focus on patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to create individualized therapy plans tailored to each client's needs.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals, couples, families, and groups, using methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with legal and ethical guidelines, ensuring integrity and confidentiality in all client interactions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a holistic approach to client care, participating in team meetings and case discussions to ensure comprehensive treatment.
  • Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops and training sessions to stay current with developments in mental health research and best practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse clientele, including individuals and families who often have limited access to mental health resources. Your therapeutic efforts will help address a variety of mental health challenges, from anxiety and depression to trauma and substance abuse. By building strong, trusting relationships, you can effectively impact clients' lives and help them achieve healthier coping mechanisms and improved emotional resilience.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Connecticut.
  • A minimum of two years of counseling experience in a clinical setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients from various backgrounds.
  • A proven ability to collaborate within a healthcare team to optimize client outcomes.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialization in family therapy, couples therapy, substance misuse, or trauma-informed care.
  • A thorough understanding of legal and ethical standards relevant to mental health practice.
  • Experience with EMR systems to enhance your workflow and documentation processes.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 70,000 to 90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and caseload. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer:

  • Comprehensive health insurance packages, including dental and vision coverage.
