Gersh Autism Academy in West Hempstead, NY seeks a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to support students aged 5-21 across our network. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, lead individual or group therapy, and connect families with services.

The role emphasizes creating a safe, caring environment, crisis intervention when needed, and collaboration with families and health professionals. Full-time, daytime schedule; compensation 70k-80k USD.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• ;Extensive knowledge of therapeutic treatment techniques and interventions.
• Experience with trauma-focused assessment and treatment.
• Experience with adults/young adults on the autism spectrum.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students to articulate feelings clearly.
• Guide students to understand behaviors.
• Develop and implement treatment plans.
• Monitor medication usage.
• Conduct crisis interventions.
• Coordinate services with families and providers.
