Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Mental Health Technician to join the inpatient/outpatient mental health teams. You will provide direct patient care, assist with treatment planning and documentation, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu on the unit.

Responsibilities include clear communication with licensed nurses, supervision of safety checks and group activities, and applying de-escalation techniques while following policy. A team-based, compassionate environment awaits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association CPR certification required.
• Avade 2 restraint training completed within 30 days of hire.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Two years experience in a health-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the mental health team on inpatient and/or outpatient units.
• Provides direct patient care including treatment planning, implementation, and documentation.
• Maintains milieu safety and conducts safety checks and activities.
• Uses de-escalation and calming tools and follows restraint policy as needed.
• Leads and participates in group activities and monitors patient progress.
• Communicates clearly with licensed nurses about observations and changes.
