Job summary

Prestige Care and Rehabilitation - Pinewood Terrace is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician to provide medication services and direct resident care, supporting a safe, dignified environment for residents. The role includes managing the medication room, administering medications, documenting treatments, and coordinating with pharmacies while ensuring adherence to physician orders and state regulations.

Successful candidates will have elder-care experience, current CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• One or more years of personal care experience with older adults preferred or as required by state regulations.
• Must hold state required medication pass certification or other required certification and complete delegation/training requirements.
• Must have word processing skills and current CPR certification, First Aid training, and Food Handlers permit as required by state regulations.
• Must complete all state required trainings as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily operation of the medication room and medication services per physician orders and state regulations.
• Processes physician medication and treatment orders in accordance with state regulations.
• Administers and assists with self-administration of routine and non-routine medications according to orders and regulations.
• Completes simple treatments and monitors residents as directed by the HSD.
• Maintains accurate records of medication and treatment services, including controlled substances.
• Coordinates with pharmacies for medication orders and refills.
• Reports all medication errors per policy.
• Reports and records changes in resident condition, incidents and accidents to HSD/physician/family as indicated.
• Regularly communicates with physicians, pharmacies, outside services, residents and families regarding medication and care.
• Provides direct resident care while promoting dignity, independence and choice; reports changes to HSD/Expressions Director/Executive Director.
• Assists with or provides care services as directed by cooperative service plan.
• Greets residents, visitors, and staff respectfully, maintaining confidentiality and dignity.
• Follows and supports fire safety and infection control practices; reports unsafe conditions.
• Serves meals, assists at mealtime, delivers resident trays, and assists with dining/kitchen cleanup.
• Assists in lifting/moving residents using proper body mechanics or assistive devices.
• Assists with tours/move-ins/move-outs/transfers and coordinates personal care services with coworkers.
• Performs First Aid and initiates emergency response per policy/state regulations.
• Stores medications/equipment properly and keeps the medication room clean.
• Removes outdated medications per policy.
• Attends training, in-services, and staff meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
