Overview
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Membership Services Representative builds relationships with members andprovidehelpful,friendlyand professional customer service. Theyare responsible forensuring the membership department conveys the mission, purpose,imageand core values of the YMCA of Southern Maine.
Schedule:
- Monday: 2:30PM - 6:30PM
- Wednesday: 2:30PM - 6:30PM
- Friday: 2:30PM - 6:30PM

Responsibilities

- Relationship Building– Develop positive, authentic relationships within the Y that lead to greater awareness of the Y’s mission and impact, growth in number of people served, as well as revenue. Greet all members and guests and provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person by providing complete andaccurateinformation to members.Learn current and prospective member’s needs and interests throughappropriate questioningand listening techniqueshighlighthow the Y can meet these needs and interests. Listens and expresses self effectively and with an understanding of the needs of a particular audience.
- Personal Growth– Maintains a high degree of emotional maturity and interpersonal skills and is committed to personal growth and skill acquisition.
- Operations & Safety– Demonstrates clear knowledge and understanding of YMCA of Southern Maine membership policies and procedures by accurately conveying and implementing with members. Is knowledgeable on all programs and membership events. Incorporates YMCA mission and core values in daily interactions with members.
- Data Tracking & Documentation–Maintainsaccurateand consistent data tracking and documentation, asrequired. Registers members into programs including completion of all paperwork, receipt of monies and data input into softwaresystem. Manages all monetary transactions accuratelyincluding:accepting payments, issuing receipts, providingchangeand reconciling cash drawer at completion of shift. Processes all membership transactions effectively and accurately.

Qualifications
- Has a high school diploma or GED.
- Demonstratesstrong communicationskills, includinganability to communicate effectively and respectfully.
- Exercises good judgment and provides excellent customer service.
- Paysattention to detail.
- Can work with frequent distractions and interruptions.
